It was great to be asked once again to cover the Muddy Boots 10k & Fun Run at St Wilfreds in Ripon, this time not only covering it for Muddy Boots but for the Ripon Gazette as well.
Upon arrival Gerry and the rest of the Muddy Boots team were very welcoming with tea, bacon butties and homemade cakes for all the runners and supporters.
The kids all seemed excited to take part in the fun run and couldn't wait till 10:00am to get to the start line and head out on the mile course around the grounds of Ripon Grammer School.
It was great to see so many kids taking part on a winters Sunday morning, alongside some of the parents who were running in the 10k at 11:00am.
The countdown for the Fun Run began and the kids flew out of the start line, some dragging mum and dad behind.
It seemed as soon as the last runners left the start gate, the leaders were on their way back, running the mile course in a blistering 9 minutes.
They were soon followed by the enthusiastic youngsters, eager to get to the finish for their medals and more importantly, cake.
As the trophies were being given out for the fun run, the adults lined up for the 10k, some taking it more seriously than others.
When all the runners had left the start gate, I grabbed a quick brew and had a walk around the grounds, looking for the perfect spot to capture the final sprint to the finish.
I decided on a long lens, low angle and waited for the leaders to enter the school.
I wasn't waiting long as the first runners came in 35 minutes later.
I waited around to capture everyone as they completed their run and crossed the finish line and all the images can be found on the link below.
